The God Worth Knowing Part 1

You can sit in church for years and still carry the same exhausting question: am I actually safe with God? We feel the weight of that, because when you don’t have assurance of salvation, it’s hard to love people freely or serve without secretly trying to prove something. So we start a new series in Romans with one goal: help you see a God worth wanting and a salvation that is meant to produce confidence, not constant second-guessing.

We rewind to Genesis and talk about shalom, God’s design for wholeness across four relationships: with God, with others, with yourself, and with creation. Then Romans 1 sharpens the point. God is not hiding from you. He’s been revealing Himself in what’s around you through creation and what’s within you through conscience, so the truth is “clearly perceived.” The problem isn’t a lack of evidence. The problem is what Romans calls suppressing the truth: exchanging worship of the Creator for worship of something we can control.

We also tackle one of the most sobering patterns in Romans 1: God’s wrath often shows up as God giving us over to what we insist on chasing. Sin can feel like a joke while it quietly destroys us, like laughing in a room where the air is running out. The ending turns toward mercy and action through Romans 12: present your whole self to God, refuse the mold of the world, and ask the Father for the joy you were made for.
